When is the best time to do a maternity session?Maternity sessions are generally scheduled for when you are between 31-37weeks pregnant. Most mothers to be aren't too uncomfortable and your beautiful belly is nice and round.
-
When should I book my maternity session?I strongly encourage booking your maternity session as soon as possible as I only take on a limited number of sessions each month. As soon as you have your due date its best to make contact and we can schedule your session in.

Using the lifestyle bed set up in the studio will allow for some natural and relaxed portraits. It's a great opportunity to capture the unspoken connection between family who are excited to meet your new baby, it’s precious to document this celebration before your new baby arrives.

Where are you located?Swee-t-Photography Studio is located in the Tanunda the heart of the beautiful Barossa Valley. Only a short 20minute drive from Gawler, 50 minutes from Blanchetown or 60 minutes from Adelaide CBD using the northern connector.
-
What age should my newborn be for the photoshoot?I recommend newborn sessions be booked for when baby is around one week of age or between 6 – 14 days old in order to get the very best result from your session. As newborns get older (14 days +) they tend to have longer awake periods, are less pose-able and can become more challenging to settle. In saying this please don't be discouraged if your newborn is already older than 14 days at the time of contacting me, we can still capture some beautiful memories.
-
What should I wear and what should I bring?I have your newborn covered! The studio is fully stocked with OOAK hand knitted newborn outfits, stunning floral halos and tiebacks, gorgeous hand knitted wraps, heirloom blankets and many other props. You need not bring any outfits for your newborn. For mum and dad who wish to be involved in the photos I suggest keeping your outfits simple, think less is more. Co-ordinate and compliment your outfits with each other don't be too matchy matchy! Neutrals works best with the studio bed set up and the lighting, a plain shirt and chinos or denim for dad and for mum a simple dress or soft following shirt and pant or skirt.

Can my family be involved?Absolutely YES! Partners and any of your other children are welcome and I strongly encourage some family shots at the beginning of the session. Using the lifestyle bed set up in the studio will allow for some natural and relaxed portraits. We will capture some sibling photos with newborn bub too. Don't worry if your other children don't want to be part of the photos at first, I have many techniques and tricks up my sleeve that usually win them over.
-
I'm worried my baby won't sleep or behave?Your baby will run the show, that's why it's important not to expect certain setups or poses as every baby is very individual. What works for some babies doesn't work for another. Some babies are a lot more active, some hate being wrapped, some have gas, some take forever to settle and some take ages to feed, while others may have a very strong startle reflex and are not overly happy being moved, and then there are the others don’t even wake up once during a session (the ones I call dream or unicorn babies!). Some newborns simply don't want to sleep and I don’t mind if they’re awake the whole session, as long as they are comfortable, that is most important.
-
When should I book my newborn session?I advise you to book your newborn session while you are still pregnant, ideally once you have been given your estimated due date. This ensures you a session around your due date to capture your little one as new as possible. Newborn sessions typically book out months in advance. Upon contacting me we will schedule a tentative date approx 7 days post your estimated due date. If your bundle arrives earlier or later than expected, we can adjust the date accordingly. If you have already had your new baby, don't stress I can usually take on your booking however this may not be for a few days to a week after you make contact.

What should I bring for baby?I have your sitter covered! The studio is fully stocked with many outfits, stunning floral halos, bonnets and tiebacks, gorgeous layering fabrics, heirloom blankets, buckets, baskets, beds and many other props and backdrops. You need not bring any outfits for your baby.
-
When is the best time to book a sitter session? The best time for a sitter session, as the name suggests, is when your baby is confidently sitting up unsupported. Typically this is from about 6 months of age. You can schedule your session in advance and if your baby is not sitting unsupported by your scheduled session we can push it out a little further. If your little on is already crawling by the session, don't worry at all, it just means we need to keep up with them! After the 10 month point, I recommend waiting for their first birthday portraits.
-
Can my family be invovled?Absolutely YES! Partners and any of your other children are welcome and I strongly encourage some family shots at the beginning of the session. Using the lifestyle bed set up in the studio will allow for some natural and relaxed portraits.

What about themes and styling?During a standard one year session we will use a variety of props and outfits that compliment your baby, there is no specific theme. However if you opt for a cake smash session or a milk bath session for your one year old then you will have a little more to consider from backdrop design to the colours. I have over 20 backdrops/setups available to choose from for cake smash sessions, from simple and elegant to fun and whimsical! Upon booking we will discuss the options available to you.
-
What about the cake?A basic cake is included in your cake smash session. However If your baby has any food allergies or intolerances then I advise you to bring your own cake. A few tips - 4-6" diameter is plenty big enough. Taller is better than wider. Stick to vanilla cakes as chocolate can photograph as dirt or even poop! Also steer clear of red food dye in the icing as this can look like blood. Avoid fondant and opt for buttercream icing as this is easier for little fingers to smoosh into.

When is the best time to book a 1 year session? Most my clients love to do a one year session as close as possible or even on their special day which of course makes it extra special. However you may choose to come in a little earlier than your baby's1st birthday (3-4wks) so you can display some of the portraits at their birthday or perhaps use them on the invitation.
